Here you will find a comprehensive list of the courses I have taken at Clemson and l'Université de Paul Valèry and a brief description of each course. Please scroll down to the bottom of the page to find various samples of my coursework throughout my studies.

Language-Oriented Courses

FR3050 - Int Fr Con & Comp I

Practice in the spoken language stressing vocabulary building, pronunciation, intonation, and comprehension. Frequently partnered up in order to conduct course based interviews to one another on required texts.

 

FR3070 - French Civilization (Montpellier)

This course examined significant aspects of French culture from its origins to the present, specifically referring to Montpellier and the South of France. Looked at certain subjects such as wine making, religious crusades and local communities.

 

FR3120 - Writing in French (Montpellier)

Study of the vocabulary, syntax, and stylistics in short compositions and creative papers in French, on both fiction and non-fiction topics. Created work such as short stories, poems, and fairy tales.

 

FR4110 - Adv Fr Conv & Comp (Montpellier)

This course dug further into specifics of conversation in French. Students would practice using classic vocabulary written in compositions in order to facilitate more free flowing conversations with one another.

Other Major Required Courses

CH1010 - General Chemistry

This course introduced the elementary concepts of chemistry through classroom and laboratory experience. Through specific experiments students learned the use of symbolic representation, the mole concept and its applications and molecular structure.

 

CU1000 - Clemson Connect

Required for all students, this course introduced the learning experience at Clemson University. Includes instruction in information technology such as Canvas and information skills like iRoar.

 

ENGL1030 - Composition and Rhetoric

Included training in composing correct and effective expository and argumentative essays, including writing documented essays. Read short stories and analyzed them through class discussions on Canvas.

 

PSYC3060 - Human Sexual Behavior

This course approached the subject of sexual behavior from the psychophysiological, behavioral, and cultural points of view. Evolutionary, historical, and cross-cultural perspectives are considered as guided textbook readings and quizzes kept students on track.

 

COMM1500 - Intro to Human Communication

Overview of theoretical approaches to the study of communication, including the theory and practice of interpersonal/small group/intercultural/public communication. This course encouraged students to leave their comfort zone with weekly presentations to classmates on various topics.

 

LANG4990 - Language Portfolio

This course guides students in the making of a digital portfolio to show competency in reasoning, critical thinking, problem solving skills, cross-cultural awareness, and ethical judgment in the target language. The portfolio is also documentation of a study abroad or internship experience.

Literature and Culture Courses

FR3000 - Survey of French Lit

Study of selected masterpieces of French literature in their artistic, cultural, and historical context. Studied the multiple tribes in Eastern Africa and the Rwandan Genocide as well as dissecting Les Miserables.

 

FR4760 - Adv Sem Fr Thought

Research and discussion of French Feminists specifically focusing on the work within the French Feminism Reader and Simone de Beauvoir. Conducted in English with particular focus on French theory and philosophy but including works of French literature.

 

FR4120 - Fr & Francoph Cinema (Montpellier)

This course examined cinematic practice as a discourse and the role it plays in the representation of social relations, particularly race, ethnicity, class, power, sex, and gender in the French-speaking world. Specifically studied Sessue Hayakawa and The Cheat (1915).

Double Major Required Courses

BUS1010 - Business Foundations

This course introduced certain business topics to new students such as an overview of Clemson business degrees, on-campus resources available to ensure success, academic advising, business ethics, internships, co-ops, study abroad programs, student organizations, ePortfolios, and Clemson history.

 

PRTM2110 - Sts Play Rec Tourism

Examines the relationship among society, technology, and tourism and recreation and how they related to societal terms. Students learn how science and technology have impacted how people play, recreate and travel.

 

MGT2180 - Management PC Applications

Personal computer applications that support managers, most specifically via Excel, a very widely used computing software. Students learn from hands-on work and practice rather than lecture.

 

STAT3090 - Introductory Business Stats

Studies learn the basics of statistical analysis and how it can be applied to real life situations. Work on Excel allows students to put theories learned in class into practice and see real results.

 

ACCT2020 - Mgr Acct Concepts (HON)

Introduction to managerial accounting with emphasis on using accounting information to make decisions. Students learn how to utilize a balance sheet and basic accounting formulas.

 

ENGL2020 - Lit Forms and Creative Writing

Study and practice of the basic structures of fiction, poetry, and/or drama through creative writing and readings in contemporary literature in English and in translation. Read multiple short stories each week and conducted group analysis.

 

FIN3060 - Corporation Finance

This course introduced financial management of real firms. Studied topics such as analysis of financial statements, financial forecasting, capital budgeting, working capital management, and long-term financing decisions.

 

MGT4000 - Mgt of Organizational Behavior

Provided students with a framework for understanding how behavior within business organizations is managed. This course emphasized integrating management theory with recent developments in the behavioral sciences with distinct management applications.

 

ECON3100 - International Econ

This course focused on international commerce and covered basic theory of trade and exchange rates, institutional and legal environment, current policy issues.

 

LAW3220 - Legal Env of Bus (HON)

Examined both state and national regulation of business. Focused on the constitution and limitations of power, specific areas in which governments have acted, and the regulations that have been imposed in these areas. Students had to go to a lawyer’s office and conduct a formal interview outside of class time.

 

MGT3100 - Intermediate Business Statistics

Quantitative methods of management with applications to business and industrial problems. Topics included regression analysis, correlation analysis, analysis of variance, sampling, and nonparametric methods. Professor found real life examples of each theory taught.

 

MGT3180 - Mgt of Info Systems

This course introduced information systems concepts and applications in business. Topics included software, hardware, decision support and knowledge based systems, database, information systems design and implementation, and the management of information systems. Students learned the basics of Python Programming.

 

LAW4200 - International Business Law

This is an examination of the historical background of modern public and private international law. Topics were human rights, law of war, United Nations System, international litigation, international sales, international trade, and formation and operation of multinational businesses.

 

MGT3120 - Decision Models for MGT (HON)

Explorated ways in which management science decision models can help in making sound managerial decisions. Problem solving is Excel-based and topics include linear programming, project scheduling, and simulation.

 

MGT3900 - Operations Management

This course examined the role of operations management in both manufacturing and service organizations. Discussed the concepts, tools, and techniques for managing the operations function. Topics include operations strategy, design, planning, and control.

Business Courses

FR3160 - French for Int'l Business I

Spoken and written French common to the French-speaking world of business and industry, emphasizing business practices and writing in different forms. Conducted a group presentation on a specific French brand of our choosing and looked into their strategy.

 

FR4160 - French for Int'l Business II

Study of language and cultural environment of the French-speaking markets of the world, including the international marketing of textiles, agricultural products, and tourism in particular. Looked at the differences between American and French business culture as well as presenting on the customs of one specific Francophone country of our choosing.

 

ECON2110 - Principles of Microeconomics

This is the intro to economic reasoning and its application to the study of the behavior of consumers and business firms. Particular topics studied were competition, monopoly, international trade, and the impact of selected public policies.

 

ECON2120 - Principles of Macroeconomics

This course is the continuation of ECON 2110 in which fundamental economic principles are applied to the study of aggregate economic performance. Topics studied include the forces determining the rates of inflation, unemployment, and economic growth.

 

LAIB1270 - Intro to Lang & Int'l Business

This course taught the basics of international business and related career opportunities. Specific topics studied were tourism, agriculture, and textile industries. Focused on the overall topic of international as many students had different language specialities.

 

MATH1020 - Business Calculus I

Studied the concepts and applications of calculus. Students learned calculator functions and graphing, differentiation, and integration. Applications from real world social, biological, and management sciences were presented.

 

MATH2070 - Business Calculus II

Introduction to the calculus of several variables, differential calculus and optimization of several variables, multiple integrals. Topics from the management sciences are used to illustrate the above concepts and relate the information to real world situations.

 

ACCT2010 - Fin Acct Concepts

Introduction to accounting principles with emphasis on the use of financial data and analysis of financial statements. Without all the jargon and complexity, this course gave the skills needed to work with financial statements like a pro, helping you size up a company's financial health and performance.

 

MGT2010 - Principles of Management

Management’s role as a factor of economic production. Focused on the basics of how to be a good manager and consistently worked on a group project inventing a hypothetical company by using all our learned knowledge on what makes a company’s structure strong.

 

MKT3010 - Principles of Marketing

Principles and concepts involved in planning, pricing, promoting, and distributing of goods and services. Looked at specific examples of commercials and advertisements that are very influential and examples that are less influential.

 

ENGL3040 - Business Writing

Introduction to audience, context, purpose, and writing strategies for texts common in professional business settings. Included individual and team projects which produced various versions of real life business memoranda, letters, reports, and proposals.

 

MKT3020 - Consumer Behavior

This course looked at selected individual and group behavioral science concepts and their application to the understanding of consumer decision making. Studied certain pieces of marketing and the effects they have on consumers as a whole.

 

LAIB4000 - Lang & Int'l Business Intern (Montpellier)

Mandatory internship with an international company in the United States or abroad. Worked as an assistant to the event coordination at l’Association Gammes in the neighborhood Vert-Bois. Focused on facilitating community engagement within a lower-income isolated community and created a safe space for families to discuss local issues.

 

MGT4230 - Intern Business Mgt

Studied the theoretical and institutional complexities of international business operations and specific country relations. Topics studied were exporting, importing, foreign investment, multinational corporations, and international payment systems.

 

MKT4270 - International Marketing

This course focused on marketing from the international point of view. Emphasis is on the necessary modification of marketing thinking and practice for foreign markets due to individual environmental differences which cannot always be evident to marketers.

This sample is from Spring 2023 in my FR4120 class I took abroad. Due to the strikes limiting our ability to attend class, this is a capstone essay written on the history of silent cinema.

This culture sample is also from Spring 2023 in my LAIB4000 class I took abroad. Due to our limited ability to attend class, this is a capstone essay written on the history of strikes in France.

This sample is from Fall 2022 in my MKT3020 class. The assignment was to select a company and product and design a new promotional strategy for said product. 

This sample is from Spring 2022 in my FR4160 class. The assignment was to create a hypothetical company, select various markets for it to enter, and explain why.

This literature sample is from Fall 2021 in my FR3000 class. It is a short analysis of the normalization of violence portrayed Gaël Faye's 2016 novel  Petit Pays.

This sample is from Fall 2021 in my MGT2010 class. The purpose of this group project was to create a company and discuss its different aspects. My job was to create the general environment and differentiation strategy.
